Doctor overcomes burn out by becoming a songwriter
Freya Moor, is a medical specialist turned singer songwriter.
“When I finally became a specialist, I was so burnt out from all the sleep deprivation and long hours that I questioned whether I even wanted to be a doctor any more. After all that training it felt like such a waste.
I decided enough was enough and it was time to start living my life in a way which prioritised joy and wellbeing. I wrote down a list of fun activities and some bucket list goals and committed to doing them regularly.
The next thing I knew I went from learning a few chords on guitar, to writing songs, to hiring a vocal coach, finding a producer, doing paid gigs, winning contests and singing live on the radio!
This was a journey of not only finding a creative passion, but also stepping fully into my authentic self, which is where true happiness seems to live.
I’m still a doctor, but now I’m a happy one”.

Remember Colbie Caillat? For some, the name alone conjures its own wave of nostalgia; for others like Freya Moor, Caillat’s sunny, country-esque material forms a source of inspiration for their own work. On ‘Can of Worms’, the gentle acoustic sound and unassuming, effortlessly bright vocal delivery pack a hefty dose of girl-next-door charm, and the Melbournian singer-songwriter’s debut EP has plenty more where that came from
